Data Protection Practitioner Training

Data Protection Basic Training (DPBT) is an intensive 15-hour practitioner course for Data Protection Leaders appointed under the CIG Privacy Policy.

Each course is only offered in person (i.e. participants are not able to join remotely via Zoom) and limited to a maximum of 26 participants. The trainer will use local and international case studies to ensure participants are able to understand and apply the Data Protection Principles and effectively manage privacy programmes in their public authorities. A workbook focused on a pre-selected processing activity allows participants to directly apply learning and complete the training course with a list of action items.

Course objectives

• Provide an overview of basic concepts and how our approach to the protection of personal data is rooted in fundamental human rights
• Give an overview of the Data Protection Act and the Cayman Islands Government Privacy Framework
• Explain the Eight Data Protection Principles and how they are interpreted and applied in practice
• Cover oversight and enforcement of the Data Protection Act
• Introduce strategies for privacy programme management in the public sector

Mental Health Signs and Symptoms Workshop

The Counselling Centre is offering monthly Mental Health Signs and Symptoms Workshops at GAB:

Please join us at one of the sessions to learn more about your natural emotions and the triggers that affect every one of us. We will talk about how to become better connected to your emotional health, and share how you can practice healthy coping responses that produce favourable outcomes.

The workshop will address:

• The impact of trauma and emotional dysregulation. 
• Anxiety, Depression, Substance and Stress disorders
• Avoidant behavior and how the cycle of avoidance contributes to suffering.
• How to become emotionally regulated and how to get professional help if required.
• How to be more understanding and aware with the customers you serve.
• How to be more insightful with co-workers and family members.

All the sessions run from 9am to 11am at GAB (room 1038)
