About Heritage Month 2026

Heritage Month will be celebrated across the Cayman Islands from 1–31 May 2026, inviting the community to come together to honour the people, traditions and stories that shape Caymanian identity.

Led by the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture and Heritage and held under the theme “Threads to Our Traditions”, the month brings together a wide range of cultural activities into one shared national observance.

Throughout May, residents can experience heritage showcases, performances, community gatherings and educational activities taking place across Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac, hosted by cultural groups, organisations and community partners. Heritage Month also encompasses Emancipation Day on Monday, 4 May, recognising a defining moment in the Islands’ history and its lasting legacy.

By weaving together past and present, Heritage Month creates space to reflect, celebrate and connect, strengthening pride in Cayman’s rich cultural heritage and the traditions that continue to shape who we are as Caymanians.
