Have questions about the personal data you handle at work? Contact your Data Protection Leader. Under the CIG Privacy Policy, every department is required to have a Data Protection Leader (DPL) who has operational responsibility for data protection. This includes drafting and maintaining policies and privacy notices, providing training and awareness sessions, handling personal data breaches, processing data protection related requests or complaints from the public, and being your go-to person for all things data protection at work. As practitioners, DPLs participate in 15-hour specialised training courses. Interested in becoming a DPL or learning more about what they do? Check out the DPL Guide

Are you a process owner or HR professional? We have specialised in-person courses for you too! Keep an eye on the CSC Online catalogue for course postings. Process owners, you can participate in a 5-hour single day crash course to get you familiar with your data protection responsibilities. HR professionals, you can take a 15-hour practitioner level training course to make sure you are confident and comfortable with the requirements of your role when you are handling personal data as part of your day-to-day work.

Speak with your line manager about including one or more of these data protection courses as a requirement under learning objectives in your performance agreement so you can receive recognition for completing them.

Note: If you previously completed the “Introduction to Data Protection” course on the CSC’s old website, it will not appear in your training history in the new Learning Management System, CSC Online. The course was completely revamped and is now called “DP 101: Introduction to Data Protection” (released on 3 October 2024 when CSC Online launched).
