About
The Government, through the Ministry of Planning, Agriculture, Housing and Infrastructure, commissioned the formulation of a Cayman Islands Food and Nutrition Security Policy (CIFNSP).
The preparation involves the identification and analysis of the contributing factors undermining food and nutrition security in the Islands and the crafting of measures to comprehensively address the underlying issues.
- The health and wellbeing of its people.
- The expanding and devastating public health dilemma and related disease burden.
- The rising food import bill.
- Access to safe quality food sources.
Vision and Purpose
The vision of the Cayman Islands Food and Nutrition Security Policy is A Food and Nutrition Secure Nation.
Strategic Outcome
To realise the vision for ‘A Food and Nutrition Secure Nation’ , the strategic outcome of the CIFNSP is to ensure the availability and accessibility of adequate, affordable, safe and nutritious food for all people at all times in the Cayman Islands, especially the vulnerable, to meet their dietary and food preferences for an active and healthy life.
