Keino Daley joined the Cayman Islands Civil Service with a clear sense of purpose. As Programme Support Assistant / Bus Driver at the Joy M. Tibbetts Adult Training Centre, Cayman Brac, he has found meaning in supporting others while concentrating on his own professional growth in public service.
Connection through Service
A long-standing civil servant, Keino has seen how the Cayman Islands Government (CIG) values and supports its employees, prioritising wellbeing, development opportunities and a strong sense of purpose.
“What inspired me to join the Civil Service was the way CIG takes care of its people, from its health plan and health driven initiatives, to the multifaceted career options, and the opportunities to grow.”
He wanted to contribute to the continued social development of the Cayman Islands and recognised that civil servants play an important role in delivering programmes and services that support communities, strengthen development initiatives and create employment opportunities.
“In my community I was cared for by true Caymankind, a whole island of love and support. That made me want to contribute in the greatest way possible.”
Supporting Others’ Skill Development
In his current role, Keino supports the daily operation of a structured training programme focused on development and employability, strengthening life skills and preparing individuals for greater independence.
A year into that role, he says that the most rewarding aspect of his job is working with his special needs community: “To see people come alive under care and proper attention, reaching their God-given potential and advocating for themselves is most meaningful for me.”
Stability, Structure and Support
Professional growth continues to be an important part of Keino’s journey in the Civil Service. He has participated in the Department of Tourism’s Personal Responsibility In Delivering Excellence (PRIDE) workshops, and in various learning and development programmes provided through the Civil Service College.
The Civil Service places strong emphasis on continuous learning and the development of core competencies. For Keino, these professional development opportunities have helped him build new skills, strengthen his confidence, and better serve the community. They reinforce the value of hard work and dedication and expand his understanding of how different areas of government work together to support national priorities.
Keino has filled a number of roles within the CIG over the years, with the last one being a tour guide in the District Administration Department. The opportunities provided across the organisation have increased his versatility and broadened his skill-set, adding value to his current role.
The combination of stability, structured training and professional development continues to strengthen his commitment to public service and ongoing learning.
