2025 Christmas Message from H.E. the Governor, Jane Owen

24 December 2025 | Press Release | By: Her Excellency, The Governor Jane Owen

Hello, everyone.
As we go into the Christmas time, I just wanted to wish everyone a very, very happy Christmas and hope that you’re really going to enjoy this season of goodwill, peace and spending time with friends and family.

We are all so lucky, aren't we, to be here in the beautiful Cayman Islands with the chance of spending some time with our loved ones. And I also wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who’s given me so much friendship and support in the whole of the past year.

As we look towards the season and the time that we’re going to be spending, hopefully having a break, and enjoying ourselves, let’s also remember those people who are working really hard to keep the Islands going while we’re all having a rest. I’m thinking about our security services, the people who are our first responders, everybody who’s working in the hospital or healthcare sector, or other public services on which we so rely.

And let’s not forget the private sector as well, all of those people who are keeping our shops and restaurants and hospitality moving. And I’m sure that many of us will be spending some time enjoying the services that they provide.

As we go into the festive season as well, I guess we always like to take a moment to remember people who might be feeling unwell, or lonely, or just in need of a helping hand. I’ve seen so much activity over the last few days reaching out and providing some friendship and support. So, let’s all carry on doing that as we go through the festive season.

I hope that, like me, many of you will also be taking a bit of a break over the season and hopefully going out and having a good time. Please make sure when you’re doing that that you really take care on the roads. We want to make sure that we have a season with no road accidents. So, if you can, if you don’t want to take a taxi or take a bus, make sure that you’ve got a designated driver. In my experience, parents are quite good for asking to do this but let’s all try and make sure that we do stay safe on the roads.

And whatever you’re doing, I wish you all the best with your family and friends, whether they’re here on the island, or whether you’re speaking to people on WhatsApp, or even travelling overseas yourselves. Take care, stay safe and happy Christmas to you all.
