Residents can expect to see a low flying aircraft making multiple passes over targeted wetlands and swamp areas in both Little Cayman and Cayman Brac as part of the operation

The Mosquito Research and Control Unit (MRCU) observed Earth Day with a coordinated clean up effort on Friday, 24 April, bringing staff together across Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac in a practical show of environmental stewardship

The Mosquito Research and Control Unit (MRCU) advises that its Aircraft Section will carry out larvicide treatments along the West Bay peninsula on Friday, 17 April and Monday, 20 April

Campers and outdoor enthusiasts are encouraged to use mosquito repellent containing DEET, Picaridin, or IR3535. Products with higher concentrations provide longer lasting protection.

Residents in the following areas can expect to see the MRCU aircraft flying at a low altitude and making multiple passes:

The use of drones will allow MRCU to better target areas that are difficult or impossible to access by ground teams or the mosquito control aircraft

In response to the increased need for mosquito control, teams will now travel to Little Cayman each Friday to carry out enhanced treatments and respond to service requests.

Treatments are now under way in Grand Cayman and will continue over the next two weeks. Once Grand Cayman has been completed, operations will move to Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, with aerial larviciding scheduled for early-mid December.
