Overview

Pedro St. James National Historic Site is seeking a friendly, organised and customer-focused Sales Clerk to support admissions and Gift Shop operations. The successful candidate will greet and assist visitors, sell admission tickets and merchandise, process payments, maintain displays and stock, and support inventory control while providing courteous, professional service.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome visitors and provide information on the history of the site.
  • Sell admission tickets for the theatre and Great House and sell Gift Shop merchandise and souvenirs.
  • Accept payments and accurately account for admission and Gift Shop sales.
  • Wrap or bag merchandise and assist customers with their purchases.
  • Maintain the assigned daily cash float and record cash held in the register at the end of the shift.
  • Stock shelves, price merchandise, arrange displays and keep the Gift Shop neat and orderly.
  • Assist the Senior Sales Clerk with inventory counts, purchasing, displays and restocking.
  • Answer telephone calls and direct enquiries to the appropriate department.
  • Observe assigned areas and report problems or anomalies to the Senior Sales Clerk.
  • Follow all security rules, procedures and daily operational instructions.
  • Carry out other related duties within the competency and responsibility level of the position as assigned.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • High School diploma or GED would be beneficial, with a minimum of two (2) years of working experience; alternatively, 3–5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work on own initiative.
  • General mathematical skills, including accurate addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Ability to convert currency between Cayman Islands dollars and U.S. dollars.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to operate and understand a computerised Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
  • Friendly personality with strong customer-service and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's licence would be an asset.

Requirements:
