Overview

This position plays a vital role in creating a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience for all guests. The Lifeguard plays a critical role in protecting lives through constant vigilance, rapid emergency response, and proactive safety enforcement, while also maintaining clean and well-managed aquatic facilities. The role combines safety, teamwork, and guest interaction within a unique environment that includes marine life experiences and hands-on visitor engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all guests in aquatic areas through constant surveillance, enforcement of facility rules, and rapid response to emergencies, including providing first aid and rescue assistance when needed. The role also includes maintaining cleanliness and safety of pools and surrounding areas, monitoring water quality and chemical levels, and keeping accurate operational records. Lifeguards assist with managing guest flow, support marine life care guidelines, and report any hazards or unusual animal behavior. This position requires strong attention to detail, professionalism, teamwork, and the ability to remain calm under pressure while working flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Valid International Lifeguard Certification with current First Aid and CPR certification (required)
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification (required)
  • Scuba Open Water Certification (required)
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a lifeguarding or aquatic facility environment
  • Strong swimming ability and physical fitness to meet lifeguarding performance standards
  • Ability to successfully complete required lifeguard fitness and water rescue competency tests
  • Knowledge of water safety practices, rescue techniques, and emergency response procedures
  • Basic understanding of pool operations, water chemistry, and sanitation standards
  • Strong awareness of risk identification and the ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergencies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with guests and team members
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure
  • High level of responsibility, alertness, and attention to detail
  • Professional, approachable, and customer-focused attitude
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
  • Flexibility to work shifts including weekends, evenings, and public holidays
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Driver’s License (preferred but not mandatory)

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are on a rotational schedule from Monday to Sunday, 8AM-5PM or as per required schedule according to the business needs. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and starting salary will be in the range of Grade: “P” KYD $36,528 to KYD$37,464 per annum.
