Overview

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the Cayman Turtle Conservation & Education Centre's facilities, grounds, fleet assets, utilities, equipment, Aquatic Life Support Systems (ALSS), and related infrastructure. The position performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, operational, and support duties to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the Centre.

While the role maintains a primary focus on facility maintenance activities, the incumbent is expected to provide cross-functional support across Facilities & Grounds, Maintenance & Fleet, and ALSS & Utilities operations based on operational requirements. The Facility Maintenance Technician plays an important role in maintaining the Centre's infrastructure assets and supporting the organization's conservation, education, research, tourism, and operational objectives.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the assigned ALSS & Fleet Lead Technician, the Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for carrying out preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, operational monitoring, grounds maintenance, equipment servicing, and infrastructure support activities throughout the Centre.

The role requires flexibility and the ability to work across multiple infrastructure disciplines, including facilities maintenance, grounds operations, fleet support, utilities, aquatic systems, and emergency preparedness activities

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Technical certification, vocational training, trade qualification, or relevant work experience in facilities maintenance, construction, plumbing, electrical systems, mechanical systems, fleet maintenance, utilities, landscaping, or related disciplines would be advantageous.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in maintenance, construction, facilities operations, grounds maintenance, utilities, fleet operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, electrical, irrigation, construction, landscaping, fleet, utility, or aquatic systems.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, equipment, machinery, and vehicles.
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and follow operating procedures, safety instructions, maintenance schedules, and work orders.
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to use Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid Group 2 Driver's Licence preferred or ability to obtain one.
  • Must be PADI-certified or able to successfully obtain PADI certification.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety.

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are on a rotational schedule from Monday to Sunday, 8AM-5PM or as per required schedule according to the business needs.

Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and starting salary will be in the range of Grade: “O” CI $39,408.00 to $43,464.00 per annum.
