Safe Driver Programme

In partnership with the Cayman Islands National Insurance Company (CINICO), Inspire Cayman Training has launched the new Safe Driver Programme initiative to help new drivers develop the skills, confidence, and awareness needed to stay safe on Cayman’s roads, and to improve road safety in Cayman.

With Cayman’s growing population and increasing number of vehicles on the road, road safety is more important than ever. New drivers are particularly at risk, with inexperience often contributing to accidents.

Combining classroom instruction with simulator training, course participants will learn about Cayman’s driving laws, local road conditions, basic vehicle maintenance as well as risk recognition, fatigue management, and alcohol and drug awareness so they can handle real-world driving scenarios safely.

How Does It Work?

The Safe Driver Programme combines two key components – classroom learning and simulation training. Participants will take part in:

  1. A customised 4-hour driver’s education course, in-classroom, covering:
    • the local driving landscape
    • Cayman’s road laws
    • basic vehicle maintenance
    • safe driving techniques
    • the dangers of driving under the influence (alcohol/drugs)
  2. Nine (9) hours of simulation training over two days

Eligibility & Qualification

Drivers aged 17–20, and those with less than two years of driving experience since the first issue of their Cayman driver’s license, are eligible to participate in the Safe Driver Programme. Those referred by CINICO receive a discounted rate from Inspire and, upon successful completion, may also qualify for reductions in CINICO motor insurance premiums.

Participants can also enroll in the Safe Driver Programme directly with Inspire and forgo the CINICO referral process. Participants that select this option do not receive the discounted course rate associated with the CINICO partnership.

How to Enroll

The Safe Driver Programme classes and simulation training take place at Inspire Cayman Training’s offices on 131 Maclendon Drive, located directly across from the Airport Post Office in Grand Cayman.

CINICO will review applications and refer eligible individuals to Inspire Cayman Training, who will contact participants to schedule classes. After registration, CINICO will refer participants to Inspire who will then contact them to schedule the classes.
