Caymanian National Champions Recognised at YYY World Finals

Caymanian national champions have secured international recognition at the 2026 World Finals of the Young Chef, Young Waiter and Young Mixologist (YYY) competition, held in London from 16–19 March. 

Chef Kristofer Mason, Waiter Daniel Ancel and Mixologist Kody Wright earned their place at the World Finals after winning the Cayman Islands national competition in September 2025. They went on to compete against countries from across Europe, North America, Asia and other global jurisdictions — representing the Cayman Islands at the highest international standard. 

At the conclusion of the competition, Mixologist Kody Wright was awarded Best Team Player – Mixology, recognising technical discipline, composure and collaborative excellence in a field of international competitors. 

 

The Ministry of Planning, Lands, Agriculture, Housing & Infrastructure sponsors Cayman’s participation in the YYY programme as part of its structured approach to developing Caymanian talent within the hospitality and culinary industries. 

The initiative sits within the wider framework of the Cayman Islands Food and Nutrition Security Policy (CIFNSP), which recognises that strengthening local agriculture must be matched by strengthening the industries that prepare, present and elevate Cayman-grown products. A resilient food system depends not only on what we grow, but on the professional capacity that supports it. 

The Honourable Johany “Jay” Ebanks, Minister for Planning, Lands, Agriculture, Housing & Infrastructure, stated: “These young men earned their place as national champions and competed with confidence on the world stage. That matters. It shows that Caymanian talent is capable of meeting international standards in one of the most competitive industries globally. When we invest in our young people and create clear professional pathways, we strengthen our country.” 

Chief Officer Eric Bush added: “Our support for this programme is intentional. We are cultivating Caymanian professionals who understand both global hospitality standards and the importance of local agricultural production. That bridge between agriculture and hospitality is practical, and it strengthens national capacity. Recognition at this level confirms that the model is working.” 

The Ministry congratulates Kristofer Mason, Daniel Ancel and Kody Wright for representing the Cayman Islands with discipline, professionalism and pride.
