The Ministry of Education (MoET) is proud to announce that Sir John A. Cumber Primary School has been rated 'Good' by the Office of Education Standards (OES) following its May 2025 inspection. This marks a notable improvement from the school’s previous 'Satisfactory' rating in October 2022.

To commemorate this achievement, Minister for Education & Training, Hon. Rolston Anglin, unveiled a celebratory banner at the school on Tuesday, 18 June. He was joined by Minister for Health, Environment & Sustainability, Hon. Katherine Ebanks-Wilks, Parliamentary Secretary Mrs. Julie Hunter, officials from the Ministry and Department of Education Services (DES), school staff, PTA representatives, and student leaders.

As an alumnus of the school, Minister Anglin reflected on its progress and praised the collective efforts behind its success.

“This recognition is a testament to the tireless efforts of our educators, students, and families,” said Minister Anglin. “Sir John A. Cumber Primary School has shown that with the right leadership, community engagement, and commitment to excellence, real and lasting improvement is possible. I extend my sincere congratulations to the entire school community on this well-earned milestone.”

He also urged the school’s leadership team to continue striving for its goals of an ‘Excellent’ rating in the future.

Sir John A. Cumber is now the second public primary school—and the fifth government school overall —to receive a ‘Good’ rating. The OES report highlighted several key strengths, including increa positive parent and community engagement, enhanced teaching practices, and improved support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Principal Mrs. Jovanna Wright attributed the school's success to a united vision shared by staff, students, and parents.

“Our journey toward this achievement has been one of perseverance and shared purpose,” said Mrs. Wright. “This 'Good' rating reflects the hard work and heart that our entire community brings to the learning experience every day. We are proud of how far we have come and remain committed to continuous growth.”

She also expressed gratitude to the Ministry and DES for their ongoing support and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to providing a nurturing, high-quality educational environment for all students.
