Proceeds of Crime (Amendment) Bill 2026 (LG19, S5)

This Bill makes several amendments to the Proceeds of Crime Act to expand the membership of the Anti-Money Laundering Steering Group, provide for the continuation of the Inter-Agency Coordination Committee and enable information sharing between both bodies. 

Key Provisions

 

  • Provides that the Anti-Money Laundering Steering Group will be chaired by the Minister responsible for Financial Services, or a designate.  

  • Introduces a requirement for annual performance reporting by authorities responsible for investigating or prosecuting money laundering, associated predicate offences and terrorist financing.  

  • Provides legal protection (immunity) for members of both bodies for actions or omissions made in the proper discharge of their functions.
