Larvicide Treatments Scheduled for Sister Islands

The Mosquito Research and Control Unit advises that its Aircraft Section will carry out aerial larvicide treatments over the Sister Islands beginning Monday, 11 May and continuing into Tuesday, 12 May 2026.
Residents can expect to see a low flying aircraft making multiple passes over targeted wetlands and swamp areas in both Little Cayman and Cayman Brac as part of the operation.
Targeted treatment areas include flooding and standing water locations in Little Cayman, as well as swamp and wetland areas in Stake Bay, West End, and the East Bluff in Cayman Brac.
These proactive larviciding operations are being carried out to help lower mosquito emergences as the Cayman Islands enters the rainy season.
No action from the public is necessary during these operations.
These treatments form part of MRCU’s ongoing data driven and environmentally sensitive mosquito control programme, which focuses on managing mosquito populations while supporting public health and quality of life across the Cayman Islands.
MRCU will continue to monitor conditions closely and carry out targeted operations as needed to manage mosquito populations across the Islands. Residents can report mosquito activity to mrcu@gov.ky.
MRCU teams remain active across the islands and will continue working to keep mosquito populations as low as practical.
