Incident at HMP Northward Referred to RCIPS

His Majesty’s Cayman Islands Prison Service confirms that an incident occurred at HMP Northward on Monday, 11 May 2026, resulting in injuries to two prisoners.

The incident was identified by prison officers, who responded in accordance with established security and medical protocols. Both prisoners were assessed by medical personnel at the prison and were subsequently transported to George Town Hospital for further medical assessment. Both were treated
and returned to HMP Northward without further incident.

The matter has been referred to the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service. As the incident is subject to a police investigation and involves security-sensitive prison operations, it would not be appropriate to comment further on the circumstances of the incident at this time.
