H.E Governor Jane Owen Tours Cayman Brac

The Cayman Brac community was honored to host Her Excellency, Governor Jane Owen during a three-day tour of Cayman Brac. The tour provided Governor Owen with a firsthand experience of the vibrant community and its unique challenges and opportunities.

From October 25th to 28th, Governor Owen's itinerary was packed with visits to various Government departments and community landmarks. The tour included stops at Le Soleil d’Or Farm, the Cayman Brac Sports Complex, the construction site of the new secondary school, the Sister Islands Affordable Housing Development, Cayman Brac Lighthouse, Peter’s Cave, and the Port Authority, among others.

Governor Jane Owen expressed her appreciation for the natural beauty and cultural richness of Cayman Brac. Her excellency stated, "This tour has been an incredible opportunity to immerse myself in the island's unique culture, heritage, and natural beauty. I've been deeply impressed by the dedication of Civil and Public Servants and the emphasis on wellness and heritage in various government departments. It's clear that the residents of Cayman Brac are committed to preserving their traditions while embracing new opportunities for growth."

Deputy Premier and Minister of District Administration, Hon. Juliana O’Connor-Connolly commended Governor Owen's commitment to understanding the Sister Islands. She remarked, "It's heartening to see Governor Owen's genuine interest in our community. Her visit signifies her dedication to collaboration and working together to enhance the lives of Cayman Brac residents. We look forward to continued partnership and development."

District Commissioner, B. L. Mark Tibbetts expressed deep gratitude for Governor Owen’s extended visit to Cayman Brac, highlighting her engagements with various government entities, private establishments, and public events. He emphasized the significance of the visit in promoting cultural understanding and to better display how the island operates, despite some challenges saying, "We are grateful for Her Excellency’s visit and her willingness to engage with our community. Her insights and support are invaluable to us. We extend our warmest welcome to her and express our eagerness to work together towards a brighter future for the Sister Islands."

The Ministry of District Administration and Lands and its underlying Department of District Administration, will continue to collaborate with Governor Jane Owen in their efforts to enhance the quality of life and opportunities for the residents of Cayman Brac.
