Food Recall of Pan-Caribbean Brown Sugar manufactured in Jamaica

The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) is advising the public that an alert has been issued concerning the recall of packaged brown sugar from Pan-Caribbean Sugar Company Limited in Jamaica, due to contamination with small metal fragments.  This product is labelled ‘Pan-Caribbean Sugar’.

 

DEH is co-ordinating with importers, wholesalers and retailers who have purchased and sold these products originating from Pan-Caribbean Sugar Company, to have the product withdrawn from the food supply, until further notice. We will continue to investigate this matter, monitor bulk disposal, and keep the public informed in due course of the developments regarding the safety of this food product.

 

The product is sold in 1lb, 2lb and 4lb packages.

 

 

The DEH is advising consumers to avoid consuming the product and either dispose of small quantities in your regular garbage or return packages to the point of purchase.
