All Clear Issued Following Earthquake.
Hazard Management Cayman Islands (HMCI) confirms that a magnitude 4.5 earthquake occurred at 8:42am this morning.
Earthquake Details
Location: Approximately 27 miles (44 km) south-southeast (SSE) of Bodden Town, Cayman Islands
Magnitude: 4.5
Depth: 6.2 miles (10 km)
An ALL Clear has been issued. There is no tsunami threat associated with this earthquake, and no significant impacts have been reported at this time.
Residents across the Cayman Islands may have felt moderate shaking. HMCI advises that aftershocks are possible over the coming hours and days. While most aftershocks are expected to be smaller than the main event, some may be strong enough to be felt.
HMCI is continuing to monitor the situation and liaising with relevant agencies.
