Civil Servants Support Families Through Giving Tree

Civil servants rallied to support families in need this holiday season through the annual Cayman Islands Government (CIG) Giving Tree initiative.
The gift drive, which benefits young mothers, families and older persons across the islands, invited government employees and community members to select tags from giving trees and fulfil specific holiday wishes. Trees were positioned at the Government Administration Building in Grand Cayman and the District Administration Building in Cayman Brac, with donations ranging from toys and baby items to grocery and restaurant gift certificates.
Deputy Governor and Head of the Civil Service, Hon. Franz Manderson officially presented the collected gifts to representatives from the Department of Children and Family Services, Family Resource Centre and the Department of Financial Assistance last week. The organisations will overseas the distribution of the donations to their clients.
Reflecting on the initiative, the Deputy Governor stated, “The Giving Tree initiative truly captures the spirit of Christmas, with our dedicated civil servants stepping forward to help ensure that every child can experience the joy of receiving a gift during the holiday season. I am incredibly proud of the compassion and generosity demonstrated by our team in supporting children and families who may otherwise go without. This initiative truly embodies our purpose of making lives better.”
Deputy Chief Officer of the Portfolio of the Civil Service Ryan Rajkumarsingh emphasised the initiative's alignment with government’s values. “The CIG’s Giving Tree initiative reflects our commitment to corporate social responsibility and to supporting the well-being of the communities we serve. Through the generosity of our civil servants, this initiative helps to bring comfort, dignity, and joy to families facing financial challenges during the Christmas season.”
The organisers of the CIG Giving Tree have expressed their appreciation to all participants for their contributions, which will make a meaningful difference for families across the Cayman Islands.
