Central Scranton Park to Officially Open on 1 August

The Ministry of Planning, Lands, Agriculture, Housing & Infrastructure (PLAHI) invites members of the public to attend the official opening of Central Scranton Park on Saturday, 1 August 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Located in the heart of George Town, Central Scranton Park has been designed as a welcoming community space where residents and visitors can gather, exercise, relax and enjoy the outdoors. Featuring open green spaces, walking areas, a multi-purpose court, youth and older persons' facilities, and community gathering areas, all made to support recreation, wellness and stronger community connections.

The official opening ceremony will include remarks from Government officials, the unveiling of facilities named in honour of distinguished Caymanians, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and family-friendly activities for attendees.

Minister for Planning, Lands, Agriculture, Housing and Infrastructure, Hon. Johany ‘Jay’ Ebanks, said

"Central Scranton Park represents our commitment to creating public spaces where families, friends and neighbours can come together. This park has been designed with the community in mind, providing opportunities for recreation, and meaningful connections. We are proud to open a space that we hope will be enjoyed for generations to come."

Elected Member for George Town Central, Hon. Kenneth Bryan, welcomes the opening as an important milestone for the district.

"Central Scranton Park is more than a new recreational space, it is a place where our George Town community can gather, children can play, families can spend time together and residents can build stronger connections with one another. I encourage everyone to come out on 1 August to celebrate this exciting addition to George Town Central."

Members of the public are encouraged to attend and take part in the community celebration.
