Cayman Records Encouraging Results in CXC Exams

2 September 2025 | Press Release | By: Delisa Hernandez

In a historic milestone, the Cayman Islands hosted the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) Official Release of Results Ceremony on Friday, 15 August at John Gray High School. The event brought together education officials, local dignitaries, and CXC leaders, including Registrar and CEO Dr. Wayne Wesley and Director of Operations Dr. Nicole Manning, who presented the 2025 May-June preliminary exam results.

More than 100,000 students across the Caribbean sat the 2025 CXC examinations, with Cayman’s learners standing out by leading the region in several subjects and demonstrating steady improvement in others. These preliminary results reflect both the progress made and the potential still ahead for Cayman’s students. Notable strengths emerged in Caribbean History, Social Studies, and Mathematics, where students achieved some of the region’s top performances. These gains were further supported by encouraging results across other key subject areas.

Highlights of Cayman’s 2025 Preliminary CXC Performance:
The presented data showcased Cayman’s pass rates, representing the percentage of students achieving grades one to three. I

  • Information Technology: Cayman recorded a 98% pass rate, one of the highest across the region.
  • Social Studies: Cayman achieved an 86% pass rate, well above the regional average in the 50s.
  • English: Results improved from 71% in 2024 to 75% in 2025, reflecting continued gains.
  • Mathematics: Pass rates climbed from 40% in 2024 to 43% in 2025, moving above the regional average.
  • Industrial Technology: Cayman achieved a 92% pass rate, reflecting excellence in technical studies.

In his remarks, Minister for Education and Training, Honourable Rolston Anglin, applauded students’ achievements while underscoring the collective effort required to reach Cayman’s long-term goals.

“We need to get the data prepared specifically for the public schools. There were some encouraging results as the presentation unfolded to show the gains that we've made. Our gold standard remains ensuring that more students consistently achieve five Level 2 passes, including Math and English. We expect this number to continue to grow as we build on the progress we have seen,” said Minister Anglin.

Ms. Cetonya Cacho, Chief Officer for the Ministry of Education and Training, also commended both students and teachers for their resilience and dedication:

“Today, we celebrate not only students’ achievements, but also the dedication of teachers. To those students who may not have attained the results you hoped for, please see this as a stepping stone, an opportunity to learn, grow, and return even stronger.”

The Ministry extends heartfelt congratulations to all students who sat the 2025 CXC examinations, as well as the educators and families who supported them throughout their academic journey.
