Airports Authority (Amendment) Bill 2026 (LG18, S1)

This Bill amends the Airports Authority Act (2005 Revision) to empower approved officers of the Cayman Islands Airport Authority to control access to and conduct inspections of vehicles within designated airport operational zones. 

Key Provisions:

  1. Defines the key terms used in the Bill, specifically for “approved officers”, “criminal conduct” and “designated airport security zone”, providing clarity and strengthening application of the measures prescribed. 

  2. Outlines the powers and duties of approved officers to stop vehicles, carry out inspections and act if they have reasonable grounds to suspect that a person or vehicle presents a threat to airport security.  

  3. Modernises the language used, substituting terms like “Law” with “Act”, and replacing Roman numerals with Arabic numerals.
