Overview
The Lecturer will develop and teach courses at the University College of the Cayman Islands. In addition to teaching, the Lecturer will serve on committees, advise students, and engage in professional development or continuing education activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Lecturer - Nursing reports to the Programme Director or designee and is responsible for the following:

Accountabilities Specific to the Role
Teaching and Learning (80%)
• Engages in undergraduate and/or graduate teaching in alignment with UCCI’s mission and core commitments.
• Designs, prepares, and develops teaching materials.
• Delivers lectures, seminars, and tutorials per the assigned teaching load.
• Assesses and grades student coursework.
• Maintains student records and monitors academic progress.
• Conducts tutorials, workshops, and other learning activities.
• Collaborates with the division Dean to enhance programme delivery.
• Contributes to curricular development.
• Ensures course and programme quality per UCCI Curriculum Committee guidelines.
• Develops and implements innovative teaching methods to reflect changes in research.
• Supervises student projects, research, internships, and practicums.
• Undertakes the role of academic and clinical assessor for undergraduate nursing students as per the Nursing Council and the UCCI Standards for supervision and assessment.
• Cooperates with colleagues across disciplines in the continuous review and development of programmes and the curriculum.
Service (20%)
Faculty service expectations and requirements, as agreed upon with the Dean and/or Provost & Vice President – Academic Affairs, encompass various responsibilities that contribute to the University College and its broader mission. These responsibilities include:
• Leadership & Administration – Participation in leadership, management, and administrative roles within the institution.
• Collegial & Community Engagement – Involvement in collegial activities, fostering collaboration among faculty and staff, and representing the University College in external engagements.
• Pastoral Care & Student Support – Providing guidance, mentorship, and support to students as part of their academic and personal development.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Proficiency with technology is sufficient to use learning management systems (LMS), use student information systems (SIS), prepare course materials, and teach online and hybrid courses when necessary.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
- High level of integrity in handling confidential and sensitive matters.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to collegiality.
