The Cayman Islands Government is seeking an Independent Member to join our Audit and Risk Assurance Committee (ARAC), helping to strengthen transparency and accountability across government operations.
As an ARAC member, you'll support the Deputy Governor and Chief Officers by reviewing the comprehensiveness and reliability of assurances on governance, risk management, the control environment, and the integrity of financial statements. Your insights will help support continuous improvement in how risks are managed and controls are applied across the core government.
Duties and Responsibilities
Specifically, you'll contribute to:
- Reviewing and approving internal audit strategies and plans.
- Monitoring the effectiveness of internal audit.
- Considering the adequacy of risk management arrangements.
- Reviewing financial statements and internal financial control systems.
- Evaluating audit recommendations and overseeing the implementation of improvement actions.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
You're a senior professional passionate about good governance, committed to public service, and eager to make a tangible difference. Ideally, you have significant experience in areas such as cybersecurity, strategic risk management, finance, internal controls, or corporate governance. You'll bring:
- Proven experience at board or audit committee level (public or private sector).
- Knowledge of contemporary governance, risk management, and control practices.
- Hands-on experience interacting with internal and external auditors.
- Strong analytical capabilities, critical thinking, and clear judgment.
- A collaborative and constructive team approach.

Your Commitment and Compensation
You'll attend approximately five meetings each year (about three hours per session), either virtually or in person. Preparation and occasional advisory input between meetings are also expected.
The remuneration is CI$200 per quarterly meeting, and your initial appointment will be for two years.
