MYSCH 2026 Summer placement for Young Caymanians

In support of Cayman Islands Government annual Summer Internship Programme, the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture and Heritage (MYSCH) is pleased to once again provide young Caymanians with valuable opportunities to gain practical work experience, develop professional skills and explore career pathways.
The Ministry will welcome 20 interns throughout the summer to a variety of departments and work environments within the Ministry and its affiliated areas, including youth development, sports, culture, heritage, communications, policy and events.
The majority of interns will commence placements on 1 June 2026, with additional interns joining at later dates during the summer period.
Through hands-on learning experiences, mentorship and workplace exposure, interns will have the opportunity to strengthen their communication, teamwork and professional skills while gaining a deeper understanding of the day-to-day operations of government. Such placements will support broader efforts to encourage youth engagement, professional development and positive participation in the workforce.
Minister for Youth, Sports, Culture and Heritage, Hon. Isaac Rankine, said the programme reflects the Ministry’s commitment to investing in Cayman’s young people and supporting workforce readiness.
“Our young people are the future of the Cayman Islands, and programmes such as this provide meaningful opportunities for them to build confidence, gain practical experience and prepare for long-term success in the workforce,” said Minister Rankine. “We are proud to collaborate with POCS and facilitate initiatives that empower and equip the next generation with the tools they need to thrive.”
Deputy Governor Designate and Chief Officer of the Portfolio of the Civil Service, Gloria McField-Nixon, also welcomed the initiative.
“I warmly congratulate the Ministry responsible for Youth on its leadership in advancing opportunities for our young people. Securing 20 summer internship placements is nothing less than we have come to expect from this Ministry, which consistently leads from the front in advocating for youth inclusion and advancement across our Islands,” said Gloria McField-Nixon, Deputy Governor Designate and Chief Officer of the Portfolio of the Civil Service.
“This initiative forms part of the broader Civil Service Summer Internship Programme, through which approximately 200 Caymanian students will gain meaningful professional experience in offerings across all ministries and portfolios and many independent offices within the Cayman Islands Government. This annual programme demonstrates the Cayman Islands Government’s unified commitment to nurturing the next generation of public servants and professionals.”
Throughout their placements, interns will work alongside Ministry teams and professionals, contributing to projects and initiatives that support the Ministry’s work across youth, sports, culture and heritage.
