My eID Services Now Available at Savannah Post Office Location

4 August 2026 | Press Release | By: Hollie Whitelocke

Residents of Grand Cayman's eastern districts can now apply for and receive support for the Cayman Islands Identification Card (My eID), following the official opening of a new Cayman Islands Identification Card office at the Savannah Post Office on 3 August 2026.

Located at 1687 Shamrock Rd, Savannah, Grand Cayman, the new office expands access to My eID services for residents in Savannah, Bodden Town, Newlands and surrounding eastern districts, reducing the need to travel across the island for applications, renewals, and support. The office will operate Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday appointments are also available from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., offering residents the option to enrol outside of standard working hours.

"Savannah is my home, and it means a great deal to see My eID services brought directly to this community. For too long, many residents have had to take time away from work or family commitments just to travel into George Town for the issuance of an identification card. By introducing a convenient enrolment and issuance location at the Savannah Post Office, along with Saturday appointments, Government is demonstrating that it is listening to the needs of working families and making essential services more accessible. I want to sincerely thank Hon. G. Wayne Panton, JP, MP for Newlands, for his strong support of this initiative, as well as the Department of eGovernment and the Savannah Post Office team for their collaboration and commitment to bringing this important service closer to the people of Newlands, Savannah, and the wider eastern districts." - Hon. Heather Bodden, Acting Minister for Social Development & Innovation, MP for Savannah

The My eID card provides residents with a secure and convenient way to verify their identity and access a growing range of digital and in-person government services. It also serves as a practical form of identification for residents who do not drive and may not have another government-issued photo ID, including some children, students, and older persons.

The programme is being issued in phases as part of eGovernment's broader digital transformation strategy, and is currently open to Caymanians, Civil Servants, Permanent Residents and eligible dependents.

"Bringing My eID services to the Savannah Post Office is a welcome opportunity to serve the eastern districts, and in particular working people who have had to take time out of their working day to enrol," said Ian Tibbetts, Director of eGovernment. "With Saturday appointments now available, residents can enrol at a time that suits them, not only during standard office hours."

Applicants are encouraged to begin their application online, where they can submit their information and book an appointment in advance to help speed up processing and card issuance. They should also review the application guide and gather the required documents before visiting the office.
