Marine De Cara serves as our Finance and Administration Officer. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a focus on Marketing and Finance.

This is her first formal role in disaster management, though she brings relevant experience from her previous roles with an international transport company in the UK, where she dealt with unforeseen situations such as train crashes, a train stuck in a tunnel for more than 20 hours, volcanic eruptions, and severe weather conditions. These experiences gave her hands-on training in emergency coordination, crowd control, and supporting the public with compassion. She began her career in a more operational role before gradually moving toward finance.

Marine loves that her role combines Finance and Admin with operational readiness — ensuring the team has the support it needs while staying ready to jump in when required. She sees her varied experience as an asset to HMCI and is keen to keep learning from the team.

She is currently working toward an international qualification to become a Chartered Accountant, with an eye toward specialising in environmental sustainability and renewable energy in the future.

Fun fact: As a mum, Marine spends much of her time outside the office in other "roles" — caregiver, referee, clown/entertainer, cleaner, cook, nurse, therapist, and more — and wouldn't have it any other way.
