Joanna Clarke Primary School
The newly named Joanna Clarke Primary School (JCPS) held its 2021 Inter-House Sports Competition over three days (23, 24 & 26 February) last month, with students competing for coveted Championship trophies in Track and Field and Cheerleading in either of three houses- Swallow, Nightingale and Man-O-War.
On day one, students competed in 800m open races for boys and girls. Matthew Gayle (boy) and Mikayla Thames (girl) were the event winners. Following the 800m races, Divisions 1-5 athletes competed in the long jump events.
Students journeyed to the Truman Bodden Sports Complex on day two, to compete in the Cheerleading and Track events. After lengthy deliberation, Man-O-War was adjudged the winner of the cheerleading competition.
JCPS Principal Mr. Delton Pedley was impressed with the cheerleading performances. “The performances were spectacular. All three houses were represented by highly talented performers who were all decked out in their festive costumes, as they moved to the rhythm of popular musical selections,” Mr. Pedley commented.
Swallow emerged as overall competition winners after amassing a whopping 608 points, while Man-O-War came in second with 521 points, and Nightingale scored 414 points for third place.
