Jameel Huggins
Operations, Response and Logistics Officer
Bio

Jameel Huggins currently serves as our Operations, Response and Logistics Officer. He holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, a Postgraduate Certificate in Engineering, a Diploma in Emergency Management, and an MSc in Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management with Distinction from the University of Leicester.

He has more than eight years of experience in disaster management, having previously worked with the National Disaster Offices in the Turks and Caicos Islands and Trinidad and Tobago. His experience includes emergency planning, logistics, shelter management, humanitarian relief, community preparedness and disaster response coordination. He also completed an internship with CDEMA, strengthening his knowledge of regional emergency operations.

In his current role, Jameel coordinates emergency shelter operations, logistics, and response initiatives across the Cayman Islands, working closely with government agencies and community partners to enhance resilience and emergency readiness.

What motivates him most is knowing that the work done before a disaster helps protect lives and strengthen communities. He's proud to support initiatives that improve shelter operations, expand capacity, and enhance accessibility throughout the national shelter operations programme.

Fun fact: Outside of work, Jameel enjoys travelling, exploring new cultures, socialising and staying active.
