Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism and Trade Development, Honourable Gary Rutty is the Member of Parliament for George Town South, following his election in April 2025.

Prior to being elected, Minister Rutty’s contribution to the public service included roles on the Cayman Islands Government’s Central Tenders Committee and the Work Permit Board of the Workforce Opportunities and Residency Cayman.

A past director of the Cayman Islands Merchant Association and the Chamber of Commerce, Minister Rutty is a distinguished Caymanian entrepreneur with over 35 years of experience in the restaurant and hospitality industries. He is the former owner of the local Burger King and Popeyes franchises, and also owned and managed the Comfort Suites Cayman Islands boutique Hotel for over fifteen years.

Known for being a committed advocate for youth and community development, Minister Rutty leveraged his businesses to support Cayman’s children through sponsorships, sports programmes, and scholarships. He is a founding member of the YMCA of the Cayman Islands and actively participates in a range of youth-centred initiatives including the Flag Football League, Little League and Elite FC Football Club.

Minister Rutty is a multi-generational Caymanian, whose roots extend back ten generations, reflecting his deep connection to the heritage of the Cayman Islands. His life’s work, entrepreneurial journey and wide breadth of experience underscore his steadfast dedication to building a stronger Cayman Islands for future generations.

He and his wife Angel are parents of Hannah, Gannon and Raegan.
