DEH Resumes Food Hygiene Training for Fall 2026 Following Summer Break

The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) is pleased to announce the resumption of its Food Hygiene Training sessions following the summer break. This initiative is part of the department’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding public health and strengthening food safety standards across the Cayman Islands.

Registration is now open for the upcoming Food Handler training sessions. These sessions will be conducted from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the top floor (upstairs) of the Red Cross Building in George Town on the following dates:
• September 21 & 28, 2026
• October 5, 12, 19 & 26, 2026
• November 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30, 2026

This training is a mandatory DEH requirement for all individuals employed in food preparation, handling and service industry. It equips participants with sufficient knowledge to prevent food-borne illness caused by food-borne pathogens and other contaminants.

Food handler’s certification is valid for three (3) years and must be renewed upon expiration.

Business owners and food business operators are encouraged to act now and register all food handling personnel for this important training programme, as the DEH requires all personnel handling food to be trained and certified.

A registration cost of $15 per person which covers all materials and fees should be paid at DEH headquarters, located at 580 North Sound Road, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
