Communicators Win Moments of Magic Award

The Department of Communications (DoC)was one of the recipients of the ‘Moments of Magic’ Award, presented at a gala ceremony to honour employees of the Cayman Islands Government (CIG), held at the Kimpton Seafire Resort on June 1.

The ‘Moments of Magic’ Award is presented to employees for creating exceptional value to the CIG civil service and the country in 2022. The team in the Department of Communications was recognised for their work during the period of National Mourning after the passing of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

From the moment the Queen’s passing was announced through to the end of the official mourning period, the Department of Communications set the tone for the country’s response.

Prior to the passing, the Department developed a comprehensive communication plan to support Operation London Bridge. While team members were prepared, they also displayed tremendous agility as key messages, events and timing rapidly changed.

As a result of the Department’s efforts, government’s activities attracted strong engagement from the public, both virtually and in person. The team worked some 350 additional hours to meet and exceed the expectations of stakeholders. While the death of Her Late Majesty was a solemn occasion, the diligence and performance of the team was a true Moment of Magic.
