Chief Officer's Choice Award 2019

Darice Pinedo, an Analyst/Programmer with the Computer Services Department, received a Chief Officer’s Choice award in January for creating an Outstanding Customer Experience.

Ms Pinedo started with CSD in 2006 and received a promotion on 30 December 2011 to the position she now holds. Ms Pinedo worked with a team at Portfolio of the Civil Service (POCS) to deliver the Birthday and Anniversary E-Cards that civil servants receive on their special occasions. Additionally, she is kept current with her daily tasks which include updating and enhancing approximately 20 computer applications that Cayman Islands Government employees use to capture and or report data from; such as the Freedom of Information and ePayslips applications.

“I am very grateful that our work was recognised, but most importantly happy that we are able to make a civil servant’s day feel special when they receive that special message,” Ms Pinedo said.

“I also feel very rewarded when the work I do enables jobs to become easier through technology – such as the case of the pay slips and job letters, which was also someone else’s idea [Julette Wright-Eloise] that I was able to bring to life,” she explained.

Commerce, Planning and Infrastructure Deputy Chief Officer Tamara Ebanks, who presented the COC certificate, praised CSD staff: “It’s great when our programmers continuously find innovative ways to utilise technology to bring us together and make our lives easier.”

Since the Portfolio of the Civil Service (the customer) submitted the nomination for Mrs Pinedo to the Deputy Governor Awards Programme,CSD Director Simon Spiers commented, “It is always gratifying when our customers do the talking for us.”
