Cayman Islands Fire Service holds Recruitment Drives
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands – May 26, 2025 - Earlier this month, the Cayman Islands Fire Service (CIFS) proudly opened its doors to the public during a dynamic and well-attended recruitment drive at the George Town Fire Station—a crucial hub near Owen Roberts International Airport.
Held on Saturday, May 17, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the event attracted strong interest from community members, eager to learn more about the bravery, dedication, and a one-of-a-kind career path as a firefighter in the Cayman Islands. Following that, CIFS hosted a second recruitment event in Cayman Brac on Wednesday, May 21, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, ensuring that residents across the Sister Islands also had the opportunity to engage directly with their local fire service personnel.
At both events, attendees were welcomed by dedicated CIFS personnel who shared insights into their daily operations, specialised training, and the critical role they play in safeguarding public safety across all three islands.
From action-packed demonstrations to engaging conversations, visitors engaged firsthand with frontline firefighters, gaining valuable insight into the bravery, expertise, and dedication it takes to serve in one of the nation’s most vital public safety professions.
Chief Fire Officer Randy Rankin emphasized that the Fire Service goes beyond emergency response, stating, “It embodies leadership, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to the people of these islands. We were truly honored to engage with our community and showcase what it means to be part of the CIFS family.”
The Honourable Minister for District Administration and Home Affairs, Nickolas DaCosta, JP, MP, also praised the initiative: “Recruitment drives like these not only strengthen our frontline services — they deepen the bond between our institutions and the people we serve. I commend the Fire Service team for their dedication, and I encourage young Caymanians to step forward and consider a career that demands integrity, courage, and heart.”
The Ministry of District Administration and Home Affairs commends CIFS for its ongoing efforts to strengthen public engagement and foster interest in a career that demands excellence, teamwork, and service. Initiatives like these are a testament to CIFS’s mission to build a strong, diverse, and capable next generation of fire officers.
To the men and women of CIFS — thank you for inspiring the future, and for your unwavering service to our community. To our future recruits, welcome to the mission of building a safer Cayman Islands.
