Cayman Brac Welcomes MSC Explora 1 for a Memorable Visit

Cayman Brac was humming with activity yesterday March 12th 2025,  as the cruise ship MSC Explora 1 made a much-anticipated call to the island, bringing 651 passengers eager to experience the charm and natural beauty of the Brac. Of these, 505 disembarked and immersed themselves in a wide range of island experiences organised by the District Administration Office.

Premier Juliana O’Connor Connolly was present at Scott’s Dock to extend a warm Caymanian welcome, and engaged with passengers, highlighting the island’s hospitality and culture.

“This has been a fantastic opportunity for Cayman Brac to showcase all that we have to offer, and to give passengers a memorable experience of our Island,” said Premier O’Connor Connolly. “Our community has embraced this visit with open arms, and I am thrilled to hear the wonderful feedback from our guests. Tourism is vital to our economy, and today’s visit underscores that Cayman Brac has all of the attributes necessary for welcoming any other ships that are able to visit in the future.”

While onshore, some of the visitors participated in island tours, fishing charters and diving excursions, while others opted to explore the Island via rental car, or visit local shops and souvenir stores. A vibrant marketplace featuring 15 local vendors was set up at Scott’s Dock, offering Caymanian crafts and souvenirs, and a traditional rope-laying demonstration was scheduled to round out the day’s activities. The festive atmosphere was further enriched by musical entertainment which included local students.  In addition to the excursions and activities, the beach was also a popular choice, allowing many to enjoy the white sands and warm ocean.

District Commissioner Mark Tibbetts stated that the visit has been hailed as a great success, with overwhelmingly positive feedback from passengers and local businesses alike.

We look forward to the next cruise ship’s arrival, expected in May, and to once again having the opportunity to provide an unforgettable, authentic island experience to our guests.”
