Cayman Brac Adult Training Centre (CBATC) To Open
The Ministry of District Administration and Lands announces the establishment of the Cayman Brac Adult Training Centre (CBATC), a pioneering initiative aimed at enhancing the skills, independence, and overall well-being of adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Additional Learning Support Needs (ALSN). This Centre represents a significant step forward in providing essential support services to the Sister Islands community.
Hon. Julianna O'Connor-Connolly, Premier and Minister of District Administration and Lands, commented on the initiative as she called for eligible residents of Cayman Brac to participate in the upcoming in-take registration process; "The establishment of the Cayman Brac Adult Training Centre marks a milestone in our ongoing commitment to supporting all members of our community. The Ministry of District Administration and Lands is dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive community. The Centre is a testament to this commitment, and we encourage eligible individuals to take advantage of this new resource. I am immensely proud of this initiative and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have in Cayman Brac”
The Ministry invites eligible individuals to participate in the in-take registration process. A dedicated team will be in Cayman Brac to assist with enrollment and answer any questions.
Registration Day Details:
Date: Wednesday, 31st July 2024
Location: District Administration Annex Building #1
Hours: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Required documents: Birth certificate
Optional documents: Medical certificate/verification of diagnosis, immunization cards, and proof of Caymanian status/acknowledgment.
Eligibility: Cayman Brac residents, aged 17 and over with SEND or ALSN
The CBATC is designed to address the gaps in existing support services on Cayman Brac, offering a range of programs to help eligible clients develop functional life skills, basic vocational training, and support services. The Centre will provide a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment, empowering individuals to reach their full potential and actively participate in their communities.
Programme Highlights:
Recreational Activities: Engaging adults in social interactions through fun and interactive events.
Social Skills Development: Helping clients develop appropriate social skills.
Employment and Independence Training: Offering training and support services to promote employment readiness and independence.
Rehabilitation Services: Focusing on maximizing independence in daily living activities through personalized training or treatment.
