Inspire: A Youth Meetup to Speak Out
The Ministry of Health & Wellness along with the Health Services Authority, Alex Panton Foundation and various public and private partners will be hosting a new youth initiative, “Inspire: A Youth Meet Up to Speak Out” on Monday October 21, 2024,at the Lions Centre.
The purpose of this youth event is to encourage our young people (Years 7-12) to connect across public & private schools, engage in important conversations, and share their perspectives on issues that impact their lives and the wider community. This event will place a particular focus on mental health and other community issues. The event will include a full day of interactive workshops and sessions led by youth facilitators and healthcare professionals, and will encourage open conversations allowing the youth attendees to share insights and ideas, providing a platform where their voices can be heard.
The main events and activities will take place 9am – 3pm with a youth afterparty 3pm – 5pm. Food and refreshments will be served throughout the day and will be free to attending students.
Our youth are currently facing unprecedented challenges that deeply affect their mental health and overall well-being. Our community needs a unified
effort to support our youth that involves their input, and this all-day event represents a powerful step forward in this mission. This event will provide a safe space for important discussions, connecting youth and youth leaders with local mental health experts.
