Bulk Waste Collection

Bulk waste refers to large items such as old furniture, mattresses, rugs, household appliances, carpeting, scrap metal, vegetative waste, and other items that are not collected as part of the Department of Environmental Health (DEH)’s weekly residential pick-up services.

Once a year, the DEH organises a Bulk Waste Collection at no cost to members of the public. Residents are asked to place their bulk waste on the kerbside in an area that is easily accessible to DEH collection crews and does not obstruct the roadway. This should be done ahead of the scheduled date for collection to avoid any delay or refusal of collection.

In the case of construction and demolition debris, hazardous material, electronics and tyres, these are not collected during the bulk waste removal activity. Persons are required to make alternative arrangements to transport these items to the landfill.

DEH operates grab trucks that can be used to collect bulk waste and derelict vehicles from commercial and residential establishments.

These services can be booked and paid for at the DEH offices on either Grand Cayman or Cayman Brac. The costs of these services are as follows:

  • Derelict vehicle collection $75 per vehicle (at owners request)
