A Class of Information is a way of collecting together similar types of information. The Cayman Islands National Archive has grouped its Classes of Information into broad categories, by functions which reflect the Archive's major areas of responsibility. If you are intending to make a request, the following Classes of Information will help you explain more precisely which records you are seeking, or where the information may be found:
Administering the public and private documentary resources held by the National Archive. Evaluating records and publications against established criteria and acquiring those materials that fall within the Archive's collections mandate. Developing and maintaining a system of arrangement and description to ensure the ongoing intellectual integrity and usability of materials held in the collections. Monitoring administrative change in government and documenting the provenance of archival records over time. Managing the physical control and storage of materials in the collections. Providing reference services, training and guidance to help researchers find and use materials in the collections. Undertaking outreach activities to promote the collections and reference services of the National Archive, locally and internationally.
